Located in the beautiful Horsetown USA: Norco, CA in the Camino Real Region. Established in 2005.
Mission Statement:
The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. develops character, leadership, confidence and a sense of community in youth through a program that teaches the care of horses and ponies, riding and mounted sports.
What Makes Moonlight Pony Club Special?
Our club holds regular mounted and unmounted meetings at Pepperglen Farms and other facilities. We have active alumni and older members who help educate and support our younger members. Pepperglen Farms offers our members the option to use facility lesson horses for a fee, and supports us with dressage arenas and a show-quality jumping arena with both show jumps and natural obstacles.
Core Values - "HORSE"
Horsemanship with respect to healthcare, nutrition, stable management, handling and riding a mount safely, correctly and with confidence.
Organized teamwork including cooperation, communication, responsibility, leadership, mentoring, teaching and fostering a supportive yet cooperative environment.
Respect for the horse and self through horsemanship; for land through land conservation; and for others through service and teamwork.
Service by providing an opportunity for members, parents, and others to support the Pony Club program locally, regionally and nationally through volunteerism.
Education at an individual pace to achieve personal goals and expand knowledge through teaching others.
How Does Moonlight Work?
Pony Club is run by parent volunteers. The DC (District Commissioner) works as an elected president of the club. All major changes and governmental by-laws are voted on at parent meetings, and all parents are encouraged to attend to voice their opinions. Often, during the summer months, we offer a summer camp instead of our regular meetings since some of our members travel during the summer. Again, this is voted on depending on the needs of the majority of our members. We generally have a similar policy during December. Instead of two meetings we have one day with two riding lessons plus year-end awards and fun times together.
Our main lessons consist of Dressage lessons and Show-Jumping lessons (both can be adjusted for the needs and level of horse and rider), but we also try to integrate cross-country clinics, polo clinics, tetrathlon camps, vaulting clinics, fox-hunting, trail riding, games and gymkhana, and more depending on interest and resources. We like to encourage a well-rounded rider, but also understand individual needs and goals of each child. Remember, Moonlight's colors are NAVY, SKY, AND SILVER!
go blue! ^_^
Dress Code
Safety is our number one concern. Safety for our members, our horses, and everyone else around. Anyone who is going to be around the horses, including parents and siblings, must wear boots or shoes that cover the ankle and completely cover the foot. Any time a member is to be on a horse at a pony club function, they MUST wear an ASTM approved helmet and a shirt that covers the shoulders, tummy and back. At pony club mounted lessons, please remember to be prepared with the following:
-ASTM helmet that fits properly (will not be allowed to ride without this)
-paddock boots, tall boots or cowboy boots that cover the ankle and have a heel (will not be allowed near horses without these)
-half-chaps or garters recommended with paddock boots (optional)
-appropriate shirt that tucks into pants and has sleeves (Moonlight polo preferred)
-breeches, jodhpurs or jeans that fit and do not interfere with riding
-belt (if pants have belt loops)
-gloves (optional but recommended)
-medical armband with updated info
